Overview
DPDC Balance Checker retrieves your prepaid meter balance from the DPDC API and syncs your balance history to the cloud so it's available across devices and survives reinstalls. No account, login, or identity verification beyond your DPDC customer number is required.
Data We Collect
Your customer number, customer name, and balance history are stored both locally on your device and in Google Firestore (part of Google Firebase), our cloud database.
The trust model — please read
This is the same trust model as the DPDC system itself — anyone who has, or correctly guesses, your customer number could look up that account's synced history, the same as they could query DPDC directly.
Notifications
- The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) to deliver service alerts. A device notification token is registered with Google's servers to enable this.
- These alerts are broadcast to all users and are not targeted using personal information.
Analytics
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand feature usage in aggregate (for example, how many people use a given feature, or how often accounts are added) and to improve the app.
- Analytics data never includes your customer number, name, or balance figures — only anonymous usage events and device/app metadata (like app version, device model, or theme/language preference).
- Advertising identifier collection is disabled; this data is never used for ads or ad targeting.
- You can turn Analytics off at any time in Settings, which stops new data from being collected for your device.
Third-Party Services
Your data is processed through Google Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Messaging, and Analytics), acting as our service provider. We do not sell your data or share it with any other third party.
Data Retention & Deletion
- Local data is deleted when you uninstall the app.
- Cloud-stored balance history persists until you request deletion — contact us to remove it.
- Analytics data follows Google's standard retention period (currently 14 months) and is no longer collected for your device once you disable it in Settings.
